Riley's 10th birthday

Riley and I spent a GREAT day at Disneyland for her birthday. Since we have season passes she got a Disney gift card with the cost of admission ($72) and got to shop as she pleased. What girl would not love that? This is our first trip to Disneyland just Riley and I and it was a great bonding day.
Riley loved that she got to call the shots. This photo was taken while waiting in line for Pixie Hollow. We never get to go to Pixie Hollow because her brother would not be caught dead there, much less wait for an hour in line to see Pixies. It turns out that Riley won't wait an hour to see Pixies either. She got bored with the slow moving line and after about 25 minutes she decided that Thunder Mountain sounded like a better idea.
It is a tradition to take Riley's picture in front of the "R" before entering California Adventure. I wish I could find some of the previous photos because I was shocked at how tall she looks compared to the first time we took her photo there.
It was a great day, but a long one. I am exhausted. Riley seemed to be fueled on sugar. I told her she could have whatever she wanted today. Apparently Riley's choice would be 1 donut, 6 donut holes, 2 lemonades, 1 cotton candy, and 1 Mickey Mouse ice cream sandwich. Makes me sick just thinking about it. Good thing I don't give her that kind of freedom on a daily basis.
The nicest part of the day for me was when I asked Riley what her favorite thing about the day was and she replied, "spending it with you". Awwww, do you think I can hope for her having the same reply on her 15th or 16th?

Zach's shoes must smell great!

This was our entertainment tonight. We could not figure out why Indiana was suddenly so obsessed with Zachary's shoes. Zachary, of course, said it was because his shoes smell great, but I was not convinced. The mystery was solved later when we found an ice cube in the bottom of his shoe. Indy put it there after we gave her one as a treat and then she could not get it out.

Witchy poo

Ok, don't report us to PETA, but this poor puppy was hilarious. I found the costume at the dollar tree so how could I pass it up for $1? The problem is that Indiana STILL hates wearing a collar so the idea of a hat and cape was downright undignified for her. She kept running over to Maggie for help and Maggie did try to bite the hat which I am assuming was her way of offering assistance. I think we will have to torture her some more before Halloween since Riley wants to take her trick-or-treating with us. This will require many dress rehearsals. Shhhhhhh, don't tell Indiana

What are some people thinking

Today I was reading Scott's copy of Uncle John's Bathroom Reader which is full of trivia and odd little tidbits of information. The section I was reading listed products that flopped and #2 on the list, after the Studebaker Dictator (which came out just before WWII broke out), was the "Chilly Bang Bang". This was a kids juice product which came in a package shaped like a plastic gun. You put the "gun" in your mouth and pull the trigger to squirt the juice into your mouth. OMG, I can't believe someone thought this product was a good idea and nobody along the way in design, production, etc. pointed out that this is a HORRID idea. This has to be the worst product ever. Apparently the company received complaints from several states (no surprise) before pulling the products.
I was still second guessing whether this could really be an actual product and I figured if it was it must have been made in the 50's when little boys ran around in cowboy hats and playing with cap guns. So I googled it and low and behold, not only was it an actual product, but it apprently came out in the 80's
